Duration: 3 weeks
Typesetting a book for both print and digital iterations.
My class was assigned to typeset our own version of a novel of our choice. I chose Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll as it was a book that I treasured as a child due to the whimsical/curious nature of the story. The cover was the most arduous process as I was trying to convey the image of a playing card while using two different, iconic characters from the story. It was an issue of balance as one side would have more detail or the colors were off, requiring me to make many small adjustments throughout the process. All illustrations within this book are hand done by me. The other task of the assignment was to typeset the actual text in the book, including table of contents as well as the body copy. The text was typeset for both the print and digital iterations, going through each line and adjusting the spacing to improve readability.
